Pedicure Tips and Trends

 Robbie Schaeffer, celebrity manicurist and owner of ROB|B – the first OPI Concept Salon, offers expert advice on the importance of pedicures this spring. From proper foot care treatments to selecting must-have colors, Robbie shares expert tips just in time for sandal season.

“Feet are often exposed and visible during the spring so it’s important to keep them in top shape so that they look and feel great,” says Robbie Schaeffer, owner of ROB|B.  “Sloughing away dead winter skin will restore the soles of the feet and re-energize them, allowing for a more precise pedicure experience. Exfoliation and hydration are important steps to prepare feet for warmer months.”

Whether in the salon or at home, feet should always be prepped with a purifying foot bath to cleanse and soften first, followed by a natural sugar crystal scrub to exfoliate tough calluses, revealing smoother skin. Pedicure by OPI is formulated with nature’s most soothing and effective botanicals and includes a full range of products including soaks, scrubs, massage lotion and hydrating masks designed specifically to enhance the feet for an ideal pedicure.

Schaeffer reveals, “While proper foot care is always in style, we will see an emerging color trend this season that will move toward bold, bright hues such as honeysuckle and coral. To achieve the icy-toned finish properly, apply a single coat to all ten toes first, starting with the pinky toe on one foot and polish until reaching the pinky toe of the other; as soon as the first coat has dried, apply a second coat following the same pattern.

I must admit I am a sucker for a mani/pedi especially when I bring along my Manicure/Pedicure products by OPI.
